Walking down the aisle to The Walkmen > anything traditional

lolagraceLOVAHS – pleaseeee tell me you too have your wedding song picked out…. even if you aren’t even dating anyone? I think this is normal, right? Not gonna lie – we totally obsess over wedding boards on Pinterest too – but a good song tends to stick with you. According to the boss lady – it wouldn’t be appropriate to ask someone you’ve hooked up with to play at your wedding ceremony… but it would be the ultimate antibride move, don’t ya think?

Anywho – back in the day, a real relationship was defined by the 8-12 songs you could fit on a mix tape – I definitely received a couple, but with modern technology, my list of online playlist has grown bountiful – and best – there is noooo limit to how many songs you can use to express how much you love me … and want to get in my pants, lets be real.

For me, music totes brings me back to the moment, be it the morning after a breakup, a wild night on the dance floor or the last song on a movie soundtrack that made me cry into my XL popcorn. But this song – We Can’t Be Beat – The Walkmen – is one that has really stuck with me, even after the relationship reached its current status. I would like to think I would ask my future hubby what song he would want to dance to… but this has been the frontrunner since its debut on my ~*playlist*~ back in November 2012. Anywho – here are the lyrics + a link to the YouTube. Forever yours, X0X0 the lolagraceTEAM.

For your sing along pleasure, I listed the lyrics below! You’re welcome.

I was the Duke of Earl

The Duke of Earl

But it couldn’t last

I was the Pony Express

But I ran out of gas

*(listen, I was the chaser – for almost a year, and that can be exhausting.)

Oh golden dreams

Golden dreams, all lose their glow

I don’t need perfection, I love the whole

*(in reality, no one is perfect – that’s part of my definition of an antibrideMOTTO)

Oh give me a life, that needs correction

Nobody loves, loves perfection

Loneliness, loneliness will run you through

All the kids are laughing, I’m laughing too

If you want my eyes, take my eyes, they’re always true

If you want my heart, take my heart, it’s right here for you

Its been so long, been so long, but I made it through

Its been so long, been so long, but I made it through

Its been so long

We’ll never leave

We can’t be beat

We can’t be beat

We’ll never leave

We can’t be beat

The world is ours

We can’t be beat

We can’t be beat

*(I just imagine saying these final lines whenever we’re inevitably fighting about, well, anything.)

This was my playlist in its entirety

Tender – Blur

In For The Kill – La Roux

That Teenage Feeling – Neko Case

Straight To You – Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds

My Lucky Day – Bruce Springsteen

Black Is The Color Of My True Love’s Hair – The Twilight Singers

The Killer – The Twilight Singers

You Da One – Tyler Ward cover of Rhianna

Tonight – Lykke Li

Hot Knife – Fiona Apple

I’ve Got This Friend – The Civil Wars

Ho Hey – The Lumineers

Angels – The xx

Fade Into You – Mazzy Star
