We know you’re lovin’ on our Newlywed Profiles but after attending a wedding recently (not one we planned), I beg to ask the question, will Pinterest be the end all be all to unique wedding ideas? Not to fear antibrides! lolagraceEVENTS utilizes boards to share ideas with our brides and vendors, and so so so so soooo many of our couples enjoy do-it-yourself projects (they help cut down on costs too!) Read more about our love/hate relationship with Pinterest weddings below and be sure to check out examples of DIY projects on our boards! Until next time, XoXo – Your lolagraceTEAM! While we here at lolagrace have a reason for wedding boards, I myself have no reason to have details (linens included) when I don’t even have a boyfriend… MOVING ON! For most women, Pinterest is a way easier way to document their “ideal” wedding day than a scrapbook full of magazine cutouts. I want to reassure you that most of my friends, single, engaged and already married, all have a board dedicated to design details, floral selections and dresses. A baby board may be excusable for someone like the boss lady (hurry up and get here P!) but pretty much unacceptable for someone who just cancelled her date for tonight – weddings are totally fine though, fo sho. However… I do have to admit that I recently attended a wedding, that looked STRAIGHT off the board of any 25-99 year old woman. The mint, the chevron, the burlap – you name it, it was there and in excess. The trick is, less is more – and to do everything in moderation. One of the latest things I have seen trending on the big P are succulents. These paired with flowers, bright or dark, are beautiful. (see our main woman @ Lynzariums for custom arrangements). They also last awhile longer than flowers, and offer a masculine take on what can be a girly aspect of wedding days. Chevron is fantastic, it’s a great way to add a pop of color. In fact, any pattern is awesome. (Check out this album that was shot by one of our personal faves Channing Johnson – featuring custom runners from Be Our Guest and Trina Turk patterns!) The point being – be funky, be unique – but have one pattern that WOWS everyone, rather than five different uses of pattern that can overpower your design! I am a lover of rustic, which I never knew until uploading photos of antibrideEMILY and antigroomJON. Check out the window pane used for telling guests their table numbers, rather than escort cards or other paper products! Tables at your reception are a great place to implement DIY projects, like using antique photo frames, jars, vases or any other collectable. It is easy and often inexpensive to transform pieces into unique decor with a coat of paint or some glitter (did we mention we love glitter?). Most brides look for DIY projects to help cut costs – and we have seen the good, the bad and the … not so pretty. Invites and paper products are great place to save $$$ – but be warned, the best outcomes we have seen have come from very artistic antibrides AND antigrooms, or their talented close friends. Take a peek here, and see if you can pick out which were DIY and which are from the pros. Too many DIY projects can cause additional and unnecessary stress (you would be surprised at how many rental companies have DIY lookalikes!) To all you antibrides, singles and those with a baby on the way, get to pinning — but when it comes down to it, know that scaling back from your board can keep you from getting carried away! xx Brittney (<-it’s b-r-i-t-t-n-e-y beotch!)
