In honor of the SouthField Winter Farmer’s Market launch this Saturday, we want to share our history with farmers markets. LolagraceEVENTS organizes both the Kendall Square, Cambridge Farmers Market and SouthField, Weymouth Farmers Market. Keeping in mind each event’s location, buyer demographics and overall product quality- farmers, small businesses and community organizations apply and are carefully selected to participate. With a focus on locally sourced (or grown) products and small businesses, we believe farmers markets are extremely important for keeping a developing community healthy, involved and excited to live in the area! Markets also help build the ever-growing community of conscious, eco-friendly consumers- which is good for the entire world, right!? #GoGreen! (Kendall Square, Cambridge MA)
(SouthField, Weymouth MA) Q & A with lolagraceEVENTS Owner, Rachael Gross Why did you get involved with farmers markets? “I was looking to focus on giving back to the community and turn my focus away from the intensity of the wedding planning. An opportunity presented itself at the right time, with Kendall Square.” Why do you think farmers markets are important to bring to developing communities, like SouthField or Kendall Square? “SouthField is a mecca for opportunity, due to the expansive, available space. Also, everyone who lives there is energetic and excited- same deal with the growth of residences and offices in Kendall Square, Cambridge. Markets create a platform for local farmers and small business owners to market their products to these thriving communities.” What types of connections/relationships/
(See Katelyn + Brandon’s Louisiana Wedding on the lolagraceEVENTS blog!) Did Farmers Markets lead you into Food Trucks? “Of course, I believe it was a natural progression, which has simultaneously involved lolagraceEVENTS into areas like festivals and concerts.”
(SouthField, Weymouth MA Food Truck Rodeo) What other types of events do you hope to bring to communities in the future? “We’re interested in organizing bigger farmers markets, like the markets we see in metropolitan areas. More festivals, concerts and rodeos are also on the horizon. I’m really passionate about the idea of providing residents and tenants with entertainment- but at the same time exposing local businesses to a platform!”
